Introducing the Quit Companion.
When it comes to quitting smoking, the idea of picking a Quit date can be as difficult as the thought of never having another cigarette. Fortunately, the Quit Companion is a useful tool that can be specifically tailored to meet your needs. If you're not ready to commit to a specific day just yet, the Companion can become your personalized electronic quit journal. It will track your habits and provide a visual picture of your smoking patterns. It's even smart enough to calculate what your smoking is costing you.
When you see the full picture of how many cigarettes you're smoking and how much you're spending, we hope this will motivate you to begin your quit attempt. Once you've picked a day, the Companion becomes your centralized support system, allowing yourself, your family and your friends to provide ongoing encouragement and support.
We know quitting isn't easy. That's why we're here to help. Register today for the Quit Companion and you'll be on the path to ending your smoking and living a healthier life.
Step 1 - Tell us a little about yourself.
To start utilizing the breakthrough Quit Companion, you’ll need to provide us with a little bit of information so we can tailor the program to meet your needs. This one-time step will only take a minute or two to complete. And don’t worry, you can always change your settings in the future.
Step 2 - Put your mobile phone to work.
During the sign-up process, you can enter your mobile phone number to activate the text messaging feature of the Quit Companion. With this enabled, you’ll have the ability to utilize the Companion even when you’re away from your computer; a handy feature for sure.
To ensure we’re talking with the right phone, we’ll text you a short code that you’ll need to enter in your Profile Manager.
Step 3 - Your smoking patterns visualized.
Information is power even when it comes to smoking cigarettes. Through the Quit Companion’s Progress Charts, you can visually see your smoking patterns for the first time ever. Just took a smoke break? Text the number "1" to your account and your progress will be updated in real-time. Slip ups happen, but the Quit Companion won't let you forget about them.
Step 4 - Personal Motivation.
You know you have your weak moments. Friday’s happy hour. Your morning cup of coffee. For some, they go hand-in-hand with a cigarette. Help put an end to this by scheduling a text message to arrive at 6pm each Friday reminding you to stick to your quit attempt. Or at 10am when you’re in line at Starbucks. You get the point.
Step 5 - You are not alone.
When smokers begin their quit attempt, motivation, optimism and support is at an all-time high. The truth is, this support usually fades away as the days and weeks go by. Instead of going it alone, invite family and friends to provide ongoing support messages via email and text messages.
When you quit smoking, your risk of stroke decreases steadily. Former smokers have the same stroke risk as nonsmokers after 5 to 15 years.
